Jack in the Green
Hastings Traditional Jack in the Green is a British May Day celebration not to be missed!

The long weekend event includes live bands, dancing, sun (not guaranteed), and social events—fun for all the family!
The main event on the Bank Holiday Monday is the colourful procession through the streets of Hastings Old Town, filled with unique characters, dancers, drummers, giants and more. The big finale on the West Hill is the slaying of the Jack to release the spirit of summer.

I passed a Coat walking on its Travels Today
Followed by People who pointed the way
Its colours so bright. So much Life, So much Work
The Patchwork Amazing, full of love, Hope and Hurt.
It travels through lands with hopes, Dreams andFears
Crafted by people full of blood pain and Tears
As it travels through Albion, The long Man Awaits
To guide its safe passage through his Earthy Estate
For this is Anderida the Long mans Domain
He will guide the Coats journey through sun wind and Rain

So Marvel the Patchwork, the Stitching, The Cloth
For ever stitch sewn is a person with loss
This Coat is a symbol of life and rebirth
And a prayer to the god and Goddess of Earth.
