I began with a telling of the Greek myth 'Demeter and Persephone' whose story is linked with the seasons. Demeter is the goddess of agriculture and fertility and the authority of grain. Demeter taught the mortals how to farm wheat, then grind it into flour to make bread.

I then shared a potted history of grain, its development and milling techniques. A gargantuan topic so it was my mission to just plant a few seeds... 😉

Bread has often been referred to as the 'pillar of society.' It has held a sacred centre in both home and heart in many cultures and is now somewhat demonised. This was the inspiration for a lively discussion. 

​

Next, I shared some of my personal stories. Key moments that changed my view of bread and opened me up to a place of spiritual connection..... and then we broke bread.

​

To conclude, we made our own special Third Moon Women flour ❤️

Each woman selected grains that they felt drawn to, then they milled them into flour in my Mockmill ✨

Big smiles, bags of flour to take home and more precious memories made.
